Tired of your conservatory not doing what you want it to do? Too warm in summer, too cold in winter? Misted double glazing? Or is that roof still leaking, despite your best efforts? Talk to Michael Walmsley, 44,a time-served joiner whose firm has repaired conservatories and glazing for more than 15 years. Conservatory Repairs:

With more than 20 years in uPVC and glazing, Michael fixes leaks with confidence. He has an HNC in Building Studies and was a surveyor for a large national firm before going on his own in 2001. He says: “We find where the leak is and repair it for good. We are competitively priced and beat most quotes for the same quality products and quality of install.” Rather than smother a leak with silicone, Penwortham Glass removes a panel, renews sealing tape and re-fixes the panel securely. In severe cases, they replace a conservatory panel or glass – even the whole roof – with Heatguard panels which keep heat in during the winter and the sun’s heat out during the summer (see below). They also install and repair uPVC doors, getting them to work like new. Composite doors are a speciality. The firm is an approved installer for the Doorstop range, with great offers at present. Michael also does glazing, including fixing misted windows, and uPVC such as soffits, fascias and guttering, including storm damage for insurance firms. His service is 365-days-a-year, with 24-hour emergency call-out.

Conservatory Roofs

Penwortham Glass installs the Supalite tiled roof system, which is easily fitted on to existing conservatory window frames. “It makes your conservatory into a valuable extension of your home that can be used all-year-round,” explains Michael. The Supalite system has insulation between the tiles and the conservatory and it is designed to last, coming with a 10-year guarantee, as well as being local authority approved. Michael says it meets all Building Control criteria to qualify as a proper room. “Life expectancy for a Supalite roof is 60 years,” he says. “We’d be pleased to make an appointment to visit and show you how it works.”

Heatguard Factfile:

l Innovative polycarbonate designed to limit heat build-up in the conservatory. l Popular alternative to glass. l Allows light to enter but by deflecting solar radiation can reduce solar heat gain through the roof by up to 87% compared to conventional material. There is a choice of tile or slate colours, all tested in the USA and Canada in extreme weather conditions.
