Question:

We have low voltage lights in our kitchen which is quite a long one. When they are switched on for the first time in the morning or evening, there is a slight pause before the lights at the far end come on. Is this normal? -FE, Cottam

Answer:

Two things suggest themselves. The transformers might be losing their efficiency but if the nearer lights come on instantly the length of the cable run in the ceiling and a voltage drop at the end could account for it. It could be difficult to pinpoint without a process of trial and error but this can happen. Without seeing the site. I don't think it's particularly abnormal or anything to worry about.
