Question:
I want to insure a car and a van in my own name van is for my business and car for my family use t37pt -Thomas O'Halloran, Tipperary
Answer:
There are a number of insurers that will allow you to do this - RIG and Thistle as a couple of examples. With just two vehicles though, you would be better to look at a 'book and bonus' policy rather than a 'fleet rated' policy - as issued by Axa. With 'book and bonus', each vehicle has its own 'no claims' bonus and so a claim on one vehicle will not alter the rating of the other. In addition, on some schemes, you can actually protect the 'no claim's bonus just like on a car policy. With both a van and a car I would expect to see an additional discount for having vehicles in both classes. In any event you should seek professional advice from a full time insurance broker.
