Question:
How do I fix a dripping tap? -PW, Fulwood
Answer:
Firstly, turn off the water supply at the incoming stop cock. This is important to prevent a flood. Remove the tap handle – a bit of water might come out – and take the tap head off. There are different types of taps but inside will be a ceramic disk or round rubber washer. Replace this with a new one – you’ll need to buy one suitable for your tap before you start - and reassemble in reverse order. Be careful not to twist the tap. It may loosen where it connects to the pipework or come off entirely, in which case you will need a plumber to fix it. Turn your tap back on and check for leaks.
